James Arthur Ray, Twitter and 2 Dead Guys In A Sweat Lodge In Arizona

Last night, at the Spiritual Warrior Retreat in Arizona 2 people died and 19 were hospitalized after things went wrong at a sweat lodge. The reason I decided to bring it up here is because there’s a lesson to be learned here about Twitter and Social Media.

James Arthur Ray, the man who rented the resort to throw the event, is an Internet Marketing and Law of Attraction expert. As it turned out, James is also an avid Twitter user and this is exactly what got him in trouble…

Ray was tweeting about the Spiritual Warrior Event at the night it went wrong. Later, however, he deleted those tweets and all the tweets related to the event. But to his surprise (and to everyone else’s)-the tweets were still available in Twitter Search and some of them are pretty interesting:

JamesARay: is still in Spiritual Warrior… for anything new to live something first must die. What needs to die in you so that new life can emerge?

JamesARay: Day 5 of SPW. The Spiritual Warrior has conquered death and therefore has no enemies, and no fear, in this life or the next.

These are two very strange things to tweet on the night two people died and deleting them makes things look even worse. Of course, I wish all of this would turn out to be just an accident and a mix up of some kind, but there’s a lesson to be learned here:

Be Very Careful About Your Tweets

What you say on Twitter and other Social Media sites can and will be used against you in the Court of Law. Be careful about what you say, tweet, post and publish online-even if it’s just to generate leads or make money…

This is so tragic.
My thoughts and prayers are for the families and friends of the LOA.

How about finding something else to entertain yourself with instead of insinuating that James Ray’s recent tweets during this tragic event were meant literally!! Quit spreading around false perceptions!

If you would read this post carefully, you’d see that
I am not accusing James Ray and I said that I hope
it is a misunderstanding.

But there’s a lesson to be learned about Twitter and that is:
Be careful what you’re tweeting about, it might be used
against you…

The statements that he made are freakish, dark and just plain scary to me. I know all that freedom of speech allows whatever, but I think his words could have been more carefully chosen. In fact, I know what he was trying to say in the first comment and have read it other places that used different wording. But, the second comment, I am not touching that one at all.

I wish him well and will leave it at that.

And, this is a heads-up on:
1. The extreme power of the written word.
2. Be careful what you write anywhere.
3. There aren’t any pencils erasers online once you push send or post

Igor, this was a gutsy topic to report and I thank you for reminding me.

Thanks for the profound comment Jan.

I believe sometimes we need to be exposed to such
things, there’s a serious lesson to be learned.

Otherwise I wouldn’t followed the tabloids…
