Newsletter Booster is a premium WordPress plugin that helps you build your mailing list using your WordPress blog by adding a check box to your comment and user registration forms making it really easy for your readers to sign up for your mailing list or newsletter.
My Newsletter Booster Expectations
Newsletter Booster seems like a magic bullet of WordPress list building. It’s promise is effortless newsletter growth, but as I found out-it’s not so. Although Newsletter Booster makes it much easier to build a list using a blog, it’s still not the only thing you need to grow an email database.
The reason why the promise is so appealing is because readers are becoming immune to sidebar opt in forms and orange RSS feed subscription icons.
However, if someone’s taking action to leave a comment or sign up as a member-it makes perfect sense to offer a free newsletter subscription with a check box. It’s easy. It’s under the radar. It’s genius.
So far, in the last 2 weeks, anyone who has left a comment on my blog has signed up for my mailing list and confirmed their email address. That is quite an impressive result, since I blog to the internet marketing crowd which is very picky and hates sneaky marketing tricks.
Why Newsletter Booster Alone Is Not What You’re Looking For
Although Newsletter Booster is amazing when it comes to building a list with a WordPress blog, it’s not enough if you don’t have an appealing offer, solid content and trust.
List building revolves around strong offers, trust and solid content. If you can’t deliver all three then even such an amazing plugin as Newsletter Booster won’t help you much at growing your mailing list.

Things I Like About Newsletter Booster
- Increase Newsletter Signups-since I have installed the plugin, my newsletter signups increased by 30%, which is a lot when we’re talking about list building.
- Increase Comments-similar to newsletter signups, people are more eager to comment for an incentive such as a set of 6 list building videos. This is a reverse positive effect of the plugin. Originally it’s supposed to increase newsletter signups. However, it also increases comments thanks to the free gift.
- Removal of the pesky Sidebar Optin-sidebar optin form is slowly becoming invisible and Newsletter Booster’s approach is a fresh take on list building. I don’t know if it will last long, but right now it’s working much better than the good ol’ sidebar widget.
- Less Friction-the newsletter sign up is offered after the reader has filled in his name, email and url or in other words: after he took action. It makes the NB much more effective than a simple call to action since there’s much less resistance.
- Easy To Set Up and Use-surprisingly Newsletter Booster is easy to set up and use. I set it up in a matter of minutes and within an hour already had my first optin.
- Comment Form Disclaimer-Newsletter Booster adds a short disclaimer to your comment form which is a great way to prevent any inconveniences between you and your audience.
- No Additional Traffic or Tweaks Needed-after you’ve set up Newsletter Booster you generate more leads without any additional work or traffic.
Things I Don’t Like About Newsletter Booster
To fully utilize Newsletter Booster you need HTML to create colorful optin forms and calls to action. But if you’re like me and have no clue in web design, a simple check box with some text next to it will do the trick.
The plugin would be perfect if developers would add a WYSIWYG editor to the comment form editor which will make it easier to customize the form, add pictures and change background colors.
Bottom Line
If you’re looking to build your list using a WordPress blog-Newsletter Booster is a no brainer. It’s a must have plugin for any internet marketer who wants to effectively utilize their blog traffic to build a bigger list and to make more money blogging.
