Building a list is somewhat different from generating leads for your business. Very few marketers realize this, but building a list is much easier, as well as less profitable then lead generation.
To build a list, it’s enough to lay your hands on a bunch of names and email addresses of potential customers using any white or black hat method possible. Heck, to build a huge list, you can grab the yellow pages and say that you have access to an enormous database of targeted prospects. And that won’t be too far from the truth…
However, will it make you money? That’s where lies the difference between building a list and generating leads. To become a lead, a person has to do something to qualify to be on your list.
Prospect has to “raise his hand” and let you know that he is interested in what you’re selling. That’s what’s called: “a truly valuable lead”, someone who’s qualified to buy from you so you will make money. Never forget your ultimate goal. Never let it slip from your memory that the reason you’re in this business is to Make Money.
