Lu.ly is a toolbar (browser extension), powered by Conduit, which brings Twitter and Facebook into your browser. It’s supported in Internet Explorer, Safari and Firefox.

I already mentioned Lu.ly once in 25 Twitter Apps You Never Knew Existed, but I felt it was necessary to explore Lu.ly further, because, I believe it does a little bit more then just bringing Twitter and Facebook into your browser.

Here’s what Lu.ly REALLY does for your browser and you:

Twitter and Facebook live search in your toolbar along with regular search (Google), Image search (Google Images), News (Google News), Soft Search (Soft Tonic), Dictionary Search and the ability of Searching the site you’re already on.

Email notification. Lu.ly supports all the major email services including Gmail, Yahoo, AOL and Hot Mail. It also allows you to pick a sound from your computer to notify you of new email-which I thought was very cool.

View tweets and Facebook updates

Update Twitter and Facebook status using the toolbar

Reply, ReTweet and Send Direct Messages

Shorten and Share URLs with a click

Weather Forecast

Online Radio

more Gadgets are on the way

And if you get tired of Lu.ly or you just aren’t using it at the moment-you can either shrink it or hide it completely and restore back up again whenever you feel like it.

If you wish to install Lu.ly on your browser, please use the links below:

1. Basic Lu.ly Install or 2. Customized IgorHelpsYouSucceed Lu.ly Install

*difference between the the installations is that the custom IgorHelpsYouSucceed toolbar delivers instant IgorHelpsYouSucceed Twitter updates right into your toolbar. If you’re a regular here, I would recommend the second version of the toolbar.

Twitter, undoubtedly (real word-I checked), has become the most talked about social network on the planet.

Twitter’s growing by the second and nearly doubles in size every week …but does it have the guts to beat email?

Email has been the most popular way of syndicating content for the past 15 years…

Many have tried to conquer it, but even RSS feeds didn’t make it obsolete-Email has proved to be the best way of electronic communication and plans on sticking to that title for many years to come…

But ever since Twitter has stepped onto the scene, many internet marketers have realized how powerful it really is and started using it with, and sometimes instead, email.

IM community got hooked on Social Media and many experts now claim that Email marketing is dead…

…but is it?

I’ve done some research to compare Twitter vs Email to find out which one to use more of, which one is the most effective and maybe even how you can combine both to bring your online business to the next level.

Twitter VS Email

So, how do we go about comparing Twitter vs Email?

I came up with several criteria, which I believe to be the most relevant to internet marketing and stacked them up against each other:

Twitter

Email

Deliverability

100%

95%

Format

SMS-like message+link

HTML/Plain

Size

140 characters

No limit

Response

~1-1.5%

30% on average

Speed

Instant

Instant

Spam

None

A lot

As you can see from the comparison above-on paper Email beats Twitter, however, there are some things I don’t mention in the comparison chart:

Twitter has 100% deliverability while email can be blocked by spam filters, if you don’t pay attention to the way you craft your subject lines.

While email doesn’t limit the number of characters you can use, Twitter limits you to 140 characters to get your message across. 140 characters doesn’t seem like much space to work with, but if you learn to use Twitter effectively-often it is enough to spark interest and to get people to visit your website.

Twitter response rates seem to be much smaller then Email’s, but you have to consider one important fact here: If you have more than 1000 followers on Twitter and you get ~1% response rate-then you get approx. 100 people to visit your site immediately. Email, on the other hand, even if opened, doesn’t guarantee that your links will get clicked on…

Your tweets are being syndicated in real time, while your emails can be held up in your client’s queue prior to going out-something you can’t control…

Your tweets will never get blocked by Spam filters, unlike emails that often do-which costs you money and ruins communication with your clients.

Bottom Line

Twitter is real-time, has 100% deliverability and never gets blocked by spam filters …However this doesn’t mean that Email should become obsolete.

Email is still a much greater way to communicate with your clients on a personal level, getting your messages across and getting them subscribed to your newsletter.

So, my recommendation to you is this:

Use your Twitter to get people sign up for your newsletter or blog and use email to form a personal, warm and intimate relationship with your clients which is much more important then getting your links clicked on!

There something about logging in to your Gmail, expecting to see a letter from a friend or an associate that will make you feel important, isn’t it? I used to check my email every 2 minutes when I switched to Firefox browser and downloaded Google Toolbar Add On for the first time in my life.

I was so fascinated with the fact that I didn’t have to actually visit the inbox to be notified of new messages that I couldn’t stop myself from clicking on the red-white envelope icon under the bookmarks panel.

I used to “eagle-eye” that little Gmail envelope-waiting for it to switch and let me know that there’s a new message waiting for me to be read. I used to check my email while talking with people on Skype, watching YouTube videos, writing articles, writing blog posts, etc.

Long story short-I became a Gmail addict. When I wasn’t working-I still checked my email every ten minutes. It even got to a point where my girlfriend made me unplug the internet connection to have a talk with me.

Only now I realize how embarrassing that was. Moreover, after reading this article, that talks about how smoking pot lowers your IQ less then checking email, I realized how STUPID it was. I could have been better off smoking pot instead-that way I’d keep most of my IQ intact. What a tough lesson to learn…

Today, I work in focused 1.5 hour chunks and check my email once a day …OK, 2-5 times-but still, way less then I used to when I was a Gmail Addict.

I got rid of my horrible addiction. I learned to spend most of time being productive, improving my focus ability. And I am really glad that I do, because with the amount of projects I took upon myself-I am going to need every bit of productivity I can get.

The vast majority of the people who are looking to increase their productivity tend to neglect the fact that the biggest problems lies within their habits. We condition ourselves to act a certain way until we’re totally unconscious of it.

The first step to increasing your productivity is AWARENESS. Become aware of your behavior patterns and you’ll increase your productivity by 100%.

Question: What about You? Are You Addicted to Gmail? How many times a day do you check your Email? Leave a comment!

Until recent months I have been working without one. I tried to keep my work days as organized as possible. However, being the human that I am, I tend to forget stuff once in a while (maybe twice :). It wasn’t long before I started to miss out on meetings and scheduled calls with clients. It came down to a situation where I had to vigorously apologize for being late. This experience was humiliating, to say the least, especially after I published this post.

To me, time is always of the essence. Productivity, efficiency and energy management are what my life is all about. I always try to maximize the output of every second and every action I take. I never work with my TV or Radio on, nor do I speak on the phone during my “work hours.”

When I say that you need a “little black book,” what I mean is that you need some kind of organization in your schedule.

Until recent months I have been working without one. I tried to keep my work days as organized as possible. However, being the human that I am, I tend to forget stuff once in a while (maybe twice .

It wasn’t long before I started to miss out on meetings and scheduled calls with clients. It came down to a situation where I had to vigorously apologize for being late. This experience was humiliating, to say the least, especially after I published this post. I knew I had to change the way I do business.

I recalled a principle I learned from the great Dan Kennedy in his book “No BS Time Management For Entrepreneurs.” I gone out and I got myself a little black book I could write things down in. Since then, my life became much easier.

Now I don’t have to remember what I am supposed to do-I can just glance at my schedule to find out. Also, I can freely schedule meetings and appointments knowing that I won’t miss any of them and most important I know which days are free so I can book the upcoming ventures too.

The latter is actually far more crucial then it seems because I recall quite a few times when I scheduled things over other things and made a big mess out of my day and even a bigger ass out of myself.

Here are 9 simple reasons I believe you should get a little black book too:

1. Meetings & Calls

Scheduling meetings with other internet marketers and business partners, calling clients and forming profitable business relationships becomes much easier and more convenient when you can jot things down in your black book.

2. Webinars

Internet Marketing is a global phenomenon and often we are forced to connect with people from other countries which means that we need to keep in mind the time zone differences when scheduling webinars and coaching calls. It is easy to get lost in conversions, therefore, converting once and writing it down in your black book makes you life a little easier.

3. Quick Notes

Your black book isn’t limited to meetings and webinars, you can always write down additional notes and tasks you need to take care of during the day.

4. Doesn’t Require Electricity or Internet Connection

Some will say that an Organizer Software beats my little black book, but I beg to differ, because to this day, I haven’t found anything that beats pen and paper. I even dedicated a full post to this topic here and to this day I stick to my opinion.

The black book doesn’t require an internet connection or electricity to keep you on track with your schedule. It is especially important to those who travel and don’t have a lot time or patience to deal with technology.

5. Convenience

No matter how you look at it, the black book is far more convenient then a laptop to carry around. Also, it doesn’t mix up with your phone and mp3 player, so it is easily accessible. Moreover, it doesn’t require any special skills besides reading and writing to navigate through, unlike Blackberries and iPhones that are packed with complicated technology and gadgets.

6. Makes You Look Like a Bookie

I don’t know about you, but to me, a little black book reminds me of bookkeepers and mob. To me, the black book represents a part of being cool and being serious about my work, therefore I consider it to be an essential part of my business and my coolness.

7. More Control

Before I adopted this concept, my business life was a mess. The black book helped me gain more control over what’s happening around me and allowed me to leverage my time more efficiently then I could ever do on my own.

The little black book improved my life to a great extent, what about you? Do you have one of those little black books or do you cope with technology as an alternative? Maybe you don’t own anything yet? Leave a comment! I am dying to find out.

7 Key Marketing Areas

There are a total of seven key areas you should be focusing on if you want to breakout of mediocrity. Whether you’re affiliate marketer, network marketer, blogger or web designer – these skills apply to you. In fact, they apply to anyone who is even remotely connected to marketing and sales.

90% of Internet Marketers spend 90% of their time on irrelevant and inefficient activities. The sad part, however, is that most of them don’t even realize that they’re leaving A LOT of money on the table. I believe that such behavior is caused by the fact that most of them lack Courage.

Courage of Being Honest With Thyself.

Becoming Aware of Your Weakest Skill

The first step of Personal Development in any area of life and business is admitting that there are areas that need improvement. In order to become great (or at least above average), you need to find out exactly which area needs the greatest improvement.

The same applies for marketing. You need to find out which one of the 7 Key Marketing Areas is the one that needs your immediate attention. Admitting that you have a weak point is essential because just like a weakest link in a chain, the weakest skill in the marketing skill set will be the first one to collapse and drag you down.

1. Lead Generation

Lead generation means that you need to attract qualified prospects that can and will buy your product or service within reasonable amount of time (preferably within minutes!)

Lead generation should be very focused. It is not enough to drive traffic – you need to monetize that traff very carefully. You should spend more time interacting with targeted prospects that are going to provide you with instant revenue to reinvest in other marketing areas.

2. Authority

Authority Rules. People will not buy from you unless they trust you, like you and believe that you’re a trusted expert with a friendly agenda.

No one likes to be sold to, right? I bet you don’t like it either. So don’t try to “sell” to others. Spend more time becoming an authority in your niche. You need to become a trusted source of information, give advice and provide guidance to those in need.

Only by giving a lot of value you can hope to get something in return. You need to give more than you expect to receive from your prospects. Most of them won’t appreciate what you do, but there will be plenty of those who do, those who will become loyal to you for the work that you do which will eventually lead to a healthy business relationship.

3. Customer Needs

The single biggest mistake you can make is to assume that you know exactly what your prospect’s needs are. Each and every prospect is unique. He may require the same product as the rest of your customers but his REASONS for purchase are Different!

Every prospect is unique, special and different. Each prospect has a different set of dreams than the one before him and the one before that one. You need to have genuine interest in the prospect in front of you. You need to address his every question, worry, need and desire in an unselfish manner so he feels that he has been understood – which is something we don’t get much these days.

4. Sales Copy

This is where you need to address those needs, worries and desires in such a way that the prospect can’t think of a single reason why he shouldn’t buy your product or service. Moreover, it should describe your product’s benefits in such a way that your prospect won’t be able to imagine his life without it.

Sales copy is usually presented to a qualified prospect. Its job isn’t to “sell” your product or service to a “cold” prospect, its job is to convince the “hot” prospects who are familiar with your product yet hesitate to make the call.

5. Handling Objections

In order to be a truly effective marketer you need to learn to answer objections effectively. Most of the time it would be done via your sales copy, therefore you should spend a large chunk of your time talking to prospects face to face to find out what fears, worries and objections they might have.

Before you sit down to write your sales letter, it is best to show your product to several potential customers and simply ask them what questions they might have if they were presented with an offer to purchase it.

This is a simple yet very effective technique to get into your prospects head and address all their needs and worries at the moment of purchase. This will make their defenses go down faster than the value of the dollar.

6. Closing the Sale

Which one of those two types of marketers are you?

#1: You carefully thought through every single detail of the sales process. You know how to ask the right questions at the right time and your calls to action timed just right.

#2: When the time to close the sale approaches you suddenly break into cold sweat. Your feet start shaking and you go into a state of semi panic not knowing what to do next.

The customer senses your level of stress, fear, panic or any other sign of inconvenience you might project. It is very important to carefully plan the whole process of selling from start to finish so you don’t feel lost in front of your prospective business partner.

You need to understand the art of selling before you can write a compelling sales copy, that’s why all the Copywriting Experts always compare writing a sales copy to a door-to-door salesman. You need to get a feel of what it means to be standing in front of the customer to really get in touch with your inner Dan Kennedy.

7. Long Term Profits

Last but not least, you need to develop strong long term relationships with your existing buyers so they buy from you again in the future. You need to make sure your customers are ultra-satisfied so they can provide great testimonials as well as numerous referrals.

According to Seth Godin in “The Purple Cow,” the “sneezers” (satisfied customers who recommend your product to their associates and friends) are the key to a successful business. In fact, those “sneezers” may be the only thing that will determine your success, because there is no better ad than a recommendation from a friend.

The Next Step

After you have carefully examined each and every key marketing area of your business it’s time to take the weakest area and improve it. And when you’re done with it – move to the second worse and work on that one. And the next. And the one after that.

That’s a proven formula to at the very least double any business’ revenue in 30 days or less. Try it and report back on your results here by leaving a comment.

If you’re anything like me, than you’re probably constantly looking for ways to improve yourself and your life. I am constantly on the lookout for new techniques, tricks and technologies that can help me improve my memory, sharpen my focus, increase intelligence and state of mind.

Until now I have been studying the traditional methods of personal development. Becoming better by growing from the inside, mastering the art of relationships, speed reading (Total Fail), Law of Attraction, Mind Maps, etc.

However, what I have embarked few months ago completely changed my life. I have been introduced to Brainwave Entrainment Audios.

Brainwave Entrainment Audios can be described as audio files that improve your mind by broadcasting a special kind of waves into the unconscious part of your brain. You can say it is similar to the “Frame 25″ concept, which was used to get people to buy Coke and Pop Corn in the 30s – only it’s good for you.

To tell you the truth, I was skeptical at first. I didn’t believe that just a couple of audio files are going to improve my life, but boy was I wrong! My life has totally changed since. I feel refreshed waking up in the morning, I can easily manage and maintain my focus, I remember people’s phone numbers for a change. These babies really shaped out to be the turn-key approach to my mental problems.

Now, when enough time has passed, I can honestly say that Brainwave Entrainment Works!

But here’s the thing: Jonathan Beebe, the creator of Brain Entrainment audios, has launched a newer, better version of his program. He has produced a specific set of audios which is going to: Boost Your Focus, Accelerate Learning and Increase Your IQ WHILE YOU SLEEP.

Click Here To Wake Up A Better Person Tomorrow Morning

Update:

For some reason, Brain Entrainment was recently taken off the market. But you can try another great solution here.

So you’re either working full-time on your home business, or are working part-time on one and aspiring to make it a full-time gig and you want to get the absolute most done with the little time that you’ve got. So whether it’s the 24 short hours in the day, or the 2 hours per week that you have to put into your business, you’ve made a personal pact with yourself to get as much done as humanly possible, to be a workaholic robot until you reach success…

So you start chugging away at your life’s work… and then something incredibly unexpected happens.

You get burned out.

Suddenly you find yourself browsing around the internet when you should be doing more productive tasks, and you justify it to yourself by saying, “this is expanding my knowledge and will only help my business”… but deep down you know that’s not the case. Procrastination is becoming more and more, and suddenly you realize that all week you got only a fraction of what you had originally planned to do. Once you break free from denial and realize this, you either give up, or do something about it.

Most people run into this when first venturing off to start their own businesses but unfortunately most give up at this point, and blame other circumstances for their failures. But some pull through it, and no, it’s not because they are an “elect few”, but they do know something that most don’t realize.

The big secret?

Stop working! Yup, that’s right, take some time ever now and then to stop working and clear your mind. In other words, take a break every once in a while. Your breaks will act as mind refreshers and enable you to keep doing productive work for longer periods of time. Some people think that because you stop working during breaks, that it’s counter-productive, but that’s not the case when refusing to take breaks results in a much lower productivity level.

Taking breaks isn’t without flaws though. Sometimes breaks cause people to procrastinate when “break time’s over”, and instead of feeling refreshed and “ready to go!”, sometimes a break may cause you to avoid returning to work because you are now “out of the zone”.

If you take a break and catch yourself feeling that way, then perhaps you should try meditation during your breaks instead. Setting aside anywhere from 15-30 minutes to meditate will not only help clear your mind and “reset”, but it’ll also allow more ideas and creativity to flow through you, which could raise the quality of your work.

So the next time you begin to feel burned out, that may be your cue to stop working for a little bit and take some time for yourself. But don’t always wait until you feel that way, because your aim should be to take breaks often enough to not ever feel the onset of burnout. It’s just like with water. If you’re feeling thirsty, you’re already dehydrated.

I challenge you to try this for at least a week, then contrast your productivity levels with previous “non-break” weeks, I think you’ll be amazed at what you discover.

Typing these very words right now I am wearing nothing more than my favorite “Nike” shorts and slippers (also “Nike”). I have a glass of cold water beside my laptop to keep me wet (although I do not recommend drinking anywhere near your precious work station). The aircon is on, there is plenty of light. In other words – I am working, inspight the fact that just 15 minutes ago I was in bed, struggling to get my lazy ass up.

Estimated 65 million people are working from home. Some full time and some part time. The number of ambitious personas working from home is growing daily thanks to improved technology, employer flexibility and worsening daily commutes. Most home builders understand what’s going on. They are already putting home office rooms in the model homes.

The Home Office Computing Magazine has conducted a study and found out that 96-98% of people who work from home are happier than they were when they worked at an office. And every single one of those business owners said that he/she recommends this lifestyle to others.

Some people are afraid making the shift from work place to a home office because they believe they won’t be able to resist readily available distractions. However, according to the same study, working from home increases productivity by 15-25%. This is just another example of how fear is just an illusion and needs to be treated as one – ignored.

I can be out of bed and into productivity in less than 10 minutes. If you spend 45 minutes arriving at work than it is a 90 minute daily commute you can cross off out of your daily schedule. 90 minutes a day grows into 7.5 hours a week and into astonishing 9 weeks a year. So, you can cross off 2 month plus a week of productive work time out of your calendar right on January 1st. Making this up just to break even takes twice that not to mention awful, annoying and often hazardous commute.

On my workdays, when I get hungry I don’t take an hour to go to launch. I go to the kitchen, get a healthy snack and back to work in just 10-15 minutes. I can even watch my favorite Tivo’ed show while I consume.

I make phone calls and send emails lying on my favorite orthopedic couch and even if I decide to take a 2 hour nap – I am still way ahead of an “office schedule.”

Socializing is not an issue as well. While I take five to breathe outside I often fetch my cell phone with me and make couple of calls to catch up with my friend. Note: after I am done catching up – cell phone’s GONE!

Sure, there are tradeoffs. Office often expands to other rooms around the house and business is always on my mind. But that beats the 90 minute commute plus unnecessary expanses I would have to make to get an office downtown. It’s a trade worth making.
