Another feature of ArticleVideoRobot that disappointed me is the fact that the video description is very small.

It’s not enough to enter a sufficient amount of SEO data in there. All I managed to squeeze in was 1 sentence and a link. Bummer

Although I have already covered how to improve page rank in one of my previous posts, I believe that it’s a good idea to share some simple strategies you can implement right now to drastically improve your page rank within the next 14-21 days.

To make it clear, I don’t want you to rely solely on page rank to rank high in the SERPs, because page rank is not the only thing that determines your rankings. It also depends on how well you chose your headline, title tag, meta tags, keywords and a whole bunch of other factors.

Trust me when I say this: page rank is important but it’s not SUPER important, because you can (and there are case studies to support this) rank on the first page of Google with low page rank. Just as the world we live in, SEO is a pretty messed u,.but when you get to the bottom of it, you realize that page rank is just a small piece of the SEO puzzle that you need to assemble when shooting for higher placements in the SERPs.

1. Quality Content

Google is all about the customer experience. Therefore, if you want to improve your page rank-you need to think like a customer. Next time you’re posting a piece of content on your blog, ask yourself whether it is quality content. Will customer stay on your website more then 10 seconds when he sees it? Will it make him want to read more of the related content you posted previously? Will his experience with your website be a satisfying one?

If you can honestly say that the answer is “Yes!” for all of these questions, then you can assume that your content is, in fact, high quality.

The reason link bait will improve your page rank is because by posting link bait on your website you increase the chance of other websites linking to you-thus improving your link building, which is another important piece of the SEO puzzle. 4. Start a Blog

This is kind of an obvious one, but I feel compelled to mention it nevertheless. A huge part of improving your page rank and SEO in general is content. The more pages of content you got on your website-the more authority with Google you get. A blog makes it easier to constantly add fresh content to your website-thus increasing the number of daily visits, subscribers and organic traffic.

If you don’t own a blog yet, I highly recommend WPBeginner. These guys will not only educate you about blogging but also will set your blog up for free.

5. Create An RSS Feed

RSS will help you improve your page rank by allowing Google to index your site faster and easier. RSS or XML feeds allow your content to get syndicated to RSS directories-thus increasing the speed at which your content spreads around the web.

6. Don’t Link To Just Anybody

When you’re being asked to link back to other web sites, always consider whether this link is going to be valuable to your readers. Unless linking to this website will somehow improve the visitors’ experience-don’t give out your precious link to anyone!

7. Guest Post On Other-More Powerful Blogs

By bonding with other bloggers and webmasters, try to secure a guest author spot on other blogs. Make sure these blogs have a higher page rank then yours. 8. Keep It Fresh

Google loves fresh content. To improve your page rank-make sure to update your website with fresh, high quality content at least twice a weak or so. That’s another reason why blogs are so SEO powerful.

9. Take Care of The 404 Pages

If you’re site has 404 pages (error pages-URL doesn’t exist)-you should monitor and redirect them using the 301 redirect script. If you’re using WordPress-use Redirection plugin to do that. The reason this is a crucial part of SEO, is because if you have too many 404 pages -Google will consider your website low quality (it isn’t being taken care of) and will either skip it, meaning you won’t get indexed or will get stuck in the loop somewhere and eventually skip it as well. Either way-404 pages are bad and you should take care of them.

But Don’t Get Carried Away With This SEO Babble…

These and dozens of other factors can be leveraged to improve page rank, but the one thing I learned is that you can’t keep up with Google forever. Google constantly changes the rules and some people always get left on the side of the road because of that. The only way you can improve page rank and keep it high is by thinking like your customer/reader/visitor each time you do something with your website.

By doing that you’re going to increase the number of visits your site is going to have and the quality of the experience of the visitor. This will get others to link to you and will help you rank high in the SERPs. That’s what I do and that is exactly what I recommend you do too.

Lately, there has been a lot of buzz over Google’s new platform called “The Caffeine.” I can’t think of a reason why they chose to go with THAT specific name but I do realize that some things are going to change in the SEO world. And in particular:

1. Google is going to index a much larger chunk of the web in less time
2. Sites with high authority will gain even more credibility and trust
3. The precision of the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) will drastically increase

What does it mean? It means that Google looks to become even Googlier (Google being a good word) and bring the search experience to a higher level (as if it wasn’t high enough already, eh?). However, does it mean that webmasters need to alter their SEO strategies to better suit the upcoming Search Engine alteration?

If you’re a true SEO specialist and you know exactly how Google ranks web pages, than No. You don’t need to change a thing. By improving the performance of their search algorithm, Google doesn’t change the rules of the game. Google will still be looking for the same on and off page factors it was looking until now:

• Relevancy
• Authority Backlinks
• Fresh Content
• On Page SEO
• On Site User Interaction

While making some massive changes “under the hood,” Google’s sole concern is the searcher’s experience. Google wants to provide the best, most relevant and precise data it can to its users. It does what every single search engine is supposed to do (but somehow Google is the only who’s good at it).

A major takeaway from this Google-SEO-Caffeine madness is:

If you want to rank high by the time Beta Caffeine Search is up, start creating relevant, useful, value-filled, link bait, juicy content. That way your competition won’t stand a chance.

As a consequence of the Microsoft-Yahoo deal, many webmaster are investing a significant amount of efforts in Bing and Yahoo optimization. As a blogger and a true webmaster at heart, I was affected by this issue. It got me thinking – how in the hell am I supposed to optimize for all three at the same time?

I couldn’t think of a better way to find out besides comparing the tools Google, Bing and Yahoo provide us with in order to ease the optimization process. In fact, I found this to be a very entertaining research.

Let’s go over the facts first:

Google Webmaster Tools

If you were to ask me to describe Google Webmaster Tools in a single word, I’d use “faulty.” More often than not GWT is wrong. Just for the fun of it, here’s the list of my blog’s Top Search Queries according to GWT:

Not a single query right. Not even one! Disappointing… I expected more precision from the world’s first Billion dollar internet advertising corporation. However, disappointments aside, let’s keep examining the facts. Shall We?

The Top Search Queries’ “accuracy” spreads over to Backlinks as well. According to Google, my blog has 2,493 backlinks. However, Yahoo Site Explorer shows me 5,052 links pointing back to my site. In addition, Bing wants me to believe I have 2,280 sites linking to my blog.

According to the StompreNet faculty, when it comes to backlinks – Yahoo Site Explorer is the only tool that can be trusted. I would love to agree, but since Bing came into the picture with a calculation similar to Google’s, I am starting to suspect that either Bingoogle bots are hiding something or Yahoo spiders need to learn some math.

However, jokes aside, when it comes to internal linking – Google’s the champ. It is the only one out of the three Webmaster Tools that provides information about your internal linking structure (which is one of the most important aspects of SEO).

Bing Webmaster Center

If you are familiar with GWT, you’ll have no problem in finding your way around Bing Webmaster Center Dashboard. It took me about 5 minutes to completely submit my site.

One thing that caught my attention is that Bing has something called: Page Score. My blog got five red squares out of five, however, it turns out many of my backlinks aren’t as good as I thought they were. But what is this Page Score?

According to Bing Webmaster Forums:

“Bing website ranking is completely automated. The Bing ranking algorithm analyzes factors such as webpage content, the number and quality of websites that link to your web pages, and the relevance of your website’s content to keywords. The algorithm is complex and is never human-mediated. You can’t pay to boost your website’s relevance ranking. However, Bing does offer advertising options for website owners. Each time the index is updated, previous relevance rankings are revised.”

Therefore, I believe Bing Page Score is somewhat similar to Google’s PageRank. However, the difference is that it is much easier to get a high page score than to score high PageRank. Another contrast is that unlike PageRank – Page Score doesn’t flow from page to page, it is calculated separately for each URL.

What does this mean in terms of SEO? I have no clue. But my speculation is that Bing are trying to develop a system which is similar to Google’s PageRank and so far they fell short to deliver.

Yahoo Site Explorer

Yahoo Site Explorer is an awesome backlink checker. But beyond that, I really don’t see how Yahoo is planning to top Google and Bing Webmaster Tools. Yahoo are out of their league and it is about time Yahoo realized that and did something about.

I am sorry, but I am not going to provide you with a detailed autopsy of the Yahoo Site Explorer, simply because I believe it would be a total waste of time.

To Sum Up

If you wish to find out about your site’s crawl errors, keywords, internal linking structure, pagerank and diagnostics – you’re better off with Google and Bing. If backlinks is what you’re after – Yahoo Site Explorer is right up your alley.

Google, Yahoo and Bing – all three need to keep working on improving what they call “Webmaster Tools.” As internet marketers, we need to know precisely how many backlinks we’ve got, how many pages indexed and how many broken URLs and Crawl errors are stopping us from perfect Search Engine Optimization. Back to the drawing board, Gentlemen!

PageRank is a link analysis algorithm which was named after its creator – Larry Page. Google uses PageRank to determine the authority of any given website. PageRank often determines how high (or low) a website will rank in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) for any given keyword.

Sites with relatively high PR often outrank those with low PR. While many SEO experts will debate that statement, don’t let them fool you, PageRank is extremely important when it comes to SEO, Google and Organic Search Engine Traffic.

In this post, I want to focus on the factors that determine the PageRank of any given website and how you can deliberately focus on those specific areas of your SEO campaign in order to boost your website’s PageRank to get more organic search engine traffic.

How Google Algorithm is Calculated

For many years, large numbers of internet Heroes, Warriors and Vikings have tried to conquer Google PageRank Algorithm. Many of them have tried to crack the algorithm’s code, but there is yet to be found a man who is capable of such an act of bravery.

Google constantly keeps changing the rules as soon as someone gets even close to cracking their data. However, overtime, great mathematicians have discovered an approximate way of how PageRank works:

PR(A) = (1-d) + d(PR(t1)/C(t1) + … + PR(tn)/C(tn))

In simple terms this equation can be translated into:

a page’s PageRank = 0.15 + 0.85 * (a “share” of the PageRank of every page that links to it)

*Share = The linking page’s PageRank is divided by the number of outbound links

Factors That Can Improve Pagerank

Check out the list of things that can improve your PageRank and help you rank higher in SERPs:

• Update Pages Frequently. Google bots are constantly indexing your website. Keep your pages relevant and up to date.
• Add Pages Frequently. Google recognizes fresh content as a good thing.
• No Broken Links. Broken links are a disaster. It notifies Google that you don’t care about your website and therefore it doesn’t deserve Google’s respect.
• Good Neighborhood Directories With High PageRank Levels. Submitting your site to relevant, high PR directories gives you valuable high PR backlinks.
• Monster Websites. I have no idea what this means, just copied it from another trusted website.
• Quality Inbound Links. PageRank is all about the quality. 10 links from a PR 5 website is far better than 100 links from a 2 PR site.
• Quality Relevant Links. Relevancy is Key. Keep your link-building campaigns relevant to your sites theme.
• Everything Put Together. All of these will result in a significant PageRank boost.

Avoid These!

• Bad Inbound PPSD Links. PPSD=Poker, Porn, Sex, Drugs
• Low Quality Content
• Link Spamming
• Black Hat SEO
